VIDEO South Dakota Election Night 2008

By Karina

A year ago this summer, the South Dakota Campaign for Healthy Families began the fight against South Dakota's second abortion ban. It definitely seemed like an uphill battle, but the ban was defeated by a huge margin, sending a clear message to those that wish interfere in extremely emotional and personal, family decisions.

It couldn't have been done without volunteers on the ground making phone calls, knocking on doors, and talking to friends and family about how misleading and intrusive this ban was. As a thank you to all those who worked against this ban, please take a moment to reflect on your amazing success, and relive the excitement of November 4th, 2008 by checking out the video below.

Thank you!!

South Dakotans and other readers; you know there is still a tremendous amount of work to be done on behalf of women's health in South Dakota and across the country. Please stay connected and continue to stand up for reproductive rights!!

Young Men Oppose IM 11!

by Ashley B. - Public Affairs Intern

A few weeks ago I got to sit down with Dirk, a young man who has been working against SD's abortion ban(s) since 2006.

His video is a good way to ask you to get involved now. We're about 8 weeks out from the election and every single day and every single person is going to be critical from here on out. Please consider working with PPSD and/or the Campaign for Healthy Families.

Thanks For Standing Up SD!

by Ashley B. - Public Affairs Intern

Many thanks to all our amazing volunteers who helped at last weekend's Sioux Empire Fair! We talked to hundreds of people, and in a state like SD person-to-person contact is incredibly vital (Leslie reminded us of that just a few weeks ago). With your help, dedication, and courage we signed up supporters, got some video (more will show up here soon), and spread the word about just what exactly is happening with Initiated Measure 11.

There is still a lot to do-- you can volunteer with PPSD or the Campaign for Healthy Families. Everything helps, and if you're lucky you get to eat a funnel cake while you work!
